The Department of Medicine had organized various activities to observe world Hypertension Day 2024. Here is a brief report of various activities:
1. Hypertension Quiz Competition:
A Quiz Competition on Hypertension was organized for students of Third MBBS (Part-I&II) and Interns. A screening round was held on 04/06/2024 which was MCQ based test. 4 teams were then selected for the Final phase which was held on 07/06/2024 from 2 to 4 pm.
The Quiz was prepared and conducted by Dr. Sohail Noorani (Senior Resident, Medicine).
The Quiz Competition comprised of 4 rounds:
1. Basic Definition and Classification
2. Applied Physiology and Pharmacology
3. Rapid Fire Round
4. Clinical Questions
The following teams were awarded prizes:
First Prize: Shaikh Uzma and Khan Nameera (Interns)
Second Prize: Ansari Anam Aaliya and Quazi Aayesha Siddiqua (Interns)
2. Poster Presentation Competition on Hypertension:
A Poster Presentation Competition on Hypertension was organized for UG students. The participation of students was overwhelming. The posters ranged from basic patho-physiology of hypertension to recent advances in management and rare clinical syndromes associated with hypertension.
The posters were judged by Dr. P.S.Gawali (Hon. Professor, Medicine) and Dr. Yogesh Lakkas (ICU Incharge and Assoc. Prof, Medicine).
The following teams were awarded prizes:
First Prize: Mirza Afra and Nawab Juveriya (Third MBBS)
Second Prize: Zoha Afreen and Simran Jamadar (Third MBBS)
3. Hypertension Screening for all faculties and PG residents:
All the faculties and P.G. residents of IIMS&R were screened for Hypertension by calibrated B.P. apparatus and were guided regarding further steps to be taken to prevent Hypertension and related complications.
